Charleston, SC Day 6

This is our last day in Charleston and so we wanted to make sure that we got everything in before it was time to go home.  Our morning started off pretty similarly to all the other days: I ran, Bri walked, we ate breakfast at our condo, and then we got ready to head downtown for some activities.

First, when we arrived in Charleston we found a fun carriage ride.  Our carriage ride toured the area of Charleston down by the bay.  We saw Rainbow Row, some amazing houses, and learned a lot of fun facts about the city and that area.  It was a great tour!  When you go to Charleston, you have to try out a carriage tour because they are so fun and informative!

Next, we headed to King Street for some retail therapy and to kill time before dinner.  Mom and I went to the Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale and the boys headed to the Gap.  My dad also found some fun gifts for people he works with at the Charleston Market and Margaritaville.  When we were all shopped out, we decided to head over to dinner a little early.  We had reservations for 6:30, but we figured we could sit at the bar and order some drinks and appetizers.

Our dinner location was the famous, Poogan's Porch.  One of the oldest restaurants in Charleston, Poogan's Porch is famous for its amazing food.  Plus, today was their first day of their Rollback Menu.  THis means that they were using the same menu that they opened the restaurant with in the 70s including the same prices.  It was a great deal and we all had amazing food.  The portions are rather huge and I'm pretty sure everyone was stuffed.  After starting with Fried Green Tomatoes and Fried Alligator and then enjoying our entres, we were too full for dessert.  I got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (they are famous for it!), Bri had a Veggie Risotto, Zack got the Brisket, Mom got the Crab Cakes, and Dad got the Jumbalaya.  It was the perfect southern meal to complete our vacation.
Oh the Biscuits...with honey butter?!?!?! Need I say more?
Our appetizers...they didn't last long...
Bri's Starter: Macaroni and Cheese
Veggie Risotto
Buttermilk Fried Chicken
Jumbalaya
Crab Cakes
BBQ Brisket
I have had such a great time on this vacation.  I love when my whole family spends time together and it is even better when I get to share all these fun memories with Bri.  We had a lot of fun.  Tomorrow we are headed back towards Kentucky and then home to Illinois.  Although, I am not looking forward to the drive, I am excited to go home to see my friends.  All this is bittersweet as I also have to get ready to go back to school in a few days.  This break has flown by!
