New York City Day 1

Today we drove to New York! This was made even more exciting by the fact that I drove and I used cruise control for the first time! Look mom, no feet!
We arrived in NYC famished and went directly to Katz's Deli, made famous by the movie "When Harry Met Sally."  You know, "I'll have what she's having..."  It was super yummy and did not disappoint.  I got the hot pastrami sandwich and Bri got potato pancakes and noodle kugel.  It was all delicious!

Afterwards, we drove to Bri's Uncle and Aunts house in Scarsdale.  We spent some time resting and relaxing, which was much needed after driving around NYC, with Bri's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins.  I even took a nice long nap! It was great.  When we were finally feeling a little more calm, we headed out for dinner at Pepe's, a great pizza place nearby.  Now, I know I'm from Chicago, and I do love my Chicago-style deep dish pizza, but this stuff was pretty darn fantastic.  It was thin crust, but not too thin, and it was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.  Everything was delicious!

After dinner, Bri and I got all ready to head downtown again to see some NYC nightlife.  Bri checked the train times, and we left for the station.  The train station is a simply 10 minute walk from the house which is really nice and easy, but Bri's Uncle drove us anyways.  We got to the station with plenty of time to get tickets and hop on our train.  However, as we waited, Bri re-checked the times and discovered that he had read the schedule completely wrong and we had to wait 45 minutes for the next train.  Needless to say, I was slightly disappointed at losing an entire hour of the night.  We have been very careful with checking train times since...

When we finally got downtown, we went to O'Neill's, a cute Irish Pub near Grand Central Station.  I got a Cosmo, since I wanted to be just like Carrie Bradshaw, and it was amazing!  Next, we headed to another recommendation, LIllie's.  This was nice because along the way we got to walk through Times Square at night.  I am always amazed at how busy NYC is at all hours.  It felt like midday!

Lillie's was adorable and I even scored a free drink through Foursquare!  Also, Bri and I ran into friends outside of the place! How random is that?  As we were about to go in, our friends, Beth and Patrick, were on their way out!  I couldn't believe that in a city this big and far from home we could still run into people that we know!  Although we lost an hour, the night was still super fun and a great time.  It was nice to see the city at night and I can't wait for more fun tomorrow!
